Fantastic couple

My final wedding of 2018 could not have been with a better couple. Kate & Kris were simply a joy to work with, from the engagement session to their wedding.

Fourth Presbyterian Church Wedding Ceremony

We started the day at the Blackstone Hotel with getting ready photos of both the bride and groom. This classic hotel is one of my favorites, and both Kate and Kris were all smiles while hanging out with their family and friends. The ceremony was held at another classic Chicago location…. Fourth Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue. Normally I’ve photographed in the main cathedral space, but their ceremony was held in the Buchanan Chapel upstairs. A gorgeous location, it actually has a much more modern and brighter look than the rest of the church.

We of course spent some time in their historic courtyard for photos with the wedding party, before heading to the Wrigley Building overlooking the Chicago River. This was definitely a winter wedding, and albeit cold, the weather was largely on our side. I gotta give the wedding party credit for withstanding the chilly weather for some outdoor photos.

Blackstone Hotel Chicago Wedding

We arrived back at the Blackstone well ahead of the cocktail hour, so the couple and wedding party could have a cocktail just on their own. I would highly recommend this to nearly every couple if their itinerary allows for it. The lobby of the hotel features what they call Timothy’s Hutch, where they create craft cocktails in the early evening hours. Made for a prefect break for the wedding party.

I gotta say they threw one heck of a party in the Blackstone’s historic ballroom. In addition to putting together a beautiful reception, the band they hired was out of this world. Dick Diamond and The Dusters were theatrical, hilarious and got everyone on the dance floor.

I have to thank Kate & Kris again for allowing me to document their wedding, and for ending my season on such a high note. A special thanks to Tionna at Wedicity Wedding Day Detailing for introducing me to the couple, and for making sure everything came together so perfectly!
