Stylish Fall Wedding at Loft Lucia

Some weddings just radiate joy—and Cody & Matt’s fall celebration at Loft Lucia was exactly that. Stylish, intimate, and packed with emotion and laughter, this wedding was one for the books.

The day began at the couple’s newly completed home in Chicago, where they got ready together. I always love when couples help each other get dressed—it creates such a calm, grounding energy to start the day, and in Cody and Matt’s case, it led to some incredibly heartfelt moments. After suiting up, they made their way down the stairs of their home to greet their wedding party for the first look. It was such a fun twist on the usual first look—full of cheers, excitement, and emotion from everyone present.

Before heading out, we made a quick stop on their rooftop, which offers stunning views of the downtown skyline. From there, we made our way to the LaSalle Street Bridge for portraits of just the two of them. That stretch of the city—with its iconic architecture and river views—always brings a classic Chicago backdrop, and Cody and Matt looked amazing framed by downtown buildings.

Next, we met back up with the wedding party at River Point Park. If you haven’t been, it’s a gem of a location for portraits—lush green space with the river, el tracks, and skyline all in view. The group was overjoyed to see the couple again, and their energy made for some amazing group shots with the train passing by.

The ceremony and reception took place at Loft Lucia, one of my favorite venues in the West Loop. It’s a beautiful blend of urban chic and warm elegance, and it perfectly suited Cody and Matt’s style. The rooftop ceremony felt intimate and personal, surrounded by soft September light and the buzz of the city just beyond. The reception downstairs was equally inviting, with candlelight, great food, and some hilarious dance floor moments—including custom hand fans with the couple’s faces printed on them, which quickly became everyone’s favorite prop.

Big shout out to Brenda Chavez of The Simply Elegant Group and the team at Loft Lucia for pulling everything together so seamlessly. The day flowed effortlessly, and every detail reflected Cody and Matt’s vibrant personalities.

Weddings like this remind me why I do what I do. Cody and Matt brought their full selves to the day—style, love, and a whole lot of joy—and it was such an honor to be there to capture it all.
